"As you know, the first Eames Lounge Chairs were offered in a number of veneers including rosewood, often considered to be the most beautiful of woods.  Unfortunately, rosewood is not a sustainable resource.  As a result, Herman Miller and Vitra, our two authorized manufacturers, discontinued its use in the 1980s.

Recently, a sustainable variety of rosewood called Santos Palisander has been found by countries seeking sustainable forestry practices.  We are thrilled to be working with Herman Miller for the Home in providing this exclusive opportunity to our donors."
